Family Home, our residential renovation project in Ahmedabad, is featured on The Architects Diary for how it balances three generations of memory with a full modern renovation. As residential architects in Ahmedabad, we took on one of the hardest kinds of projects: redesigning a home the owners grew up in, while modifying the original load-bearing structure and adding an entire new floor with a glass skylight and a centrally placed elevator.
The feature covers how we preserved emotional touchpoints, like retaining the original veranda marble and echoing the old cricket pitch through a new entrance garden and waterfall, while introducing an open kitchen concept and exposed brick detailing that ties the old and new structure together. The second floor was designed as a dedicated gathering den, with a home theatre, bar, and games room laid out as one continuous, column-free space.
