The Space

The Linear Pavilion is envisioned as a serene second home for a family—a contemporary retreat immersed within nature. Inspired by resort-style living, the design encourages slow living, openness, and connection, allowing architecture to dissolve into the surrounding landscape. Defined by horizontality and fluid movement, the house is experienced as a sequence of journeys rather than enclosed rooms, where indoor, semi-open, and outdoor spaces flow seamlessly into one another.

The Ask

The brief was to create a calm, immersive residential environment that prioritises togetherness while respecting privacy. The family sought a nature-led home that feels expansive yet intimate, where shared moments unfold organically and personal spaces remain quiet and retreat-like. Maximising openness, greenery, natural ventilation, and visual permeability across a large site was essential, along with an intuitive circulation that encourages movement and interaction with the outdoors.

The Result

The final design is a single-storey residence thoughtfully planned within a 6000 sq. yd. plot, where architecture and landscape are tightly interwoven. A central floating structure anchors the composition, positioned at the heart of the site and visually connected to surrounding greens from all sides. This element acts as a spatial connector, reinforcing continuity between built form and nature.

Three independent bedroom units are designed as cottage-like structures, detached from the common areas to offer privacy while evoking a relaxed, resort-style living experience. Shared spaces extend outward into outdoor dining areas, semi-open lounges, and a gazebo that directly engages with the swimming pool—blurring the boundary between indoors and outdoors.

A landscaped walking track weaves through the site, connecting gardens to the sports area and looping around the plot, encouraging movement, leisure, and daily interaction with nature. Prioritising natural ventilation, visual openness, and fluid circulation, The Linear Pavilion emerges as a tranquil family retreat—celebrating openness, togetherness, and a deep connection to the landscape.
