Perched as a rooftop dining destination, Itameshi unfolds as a layered experience where architecture, landscape, and interiors merge seamlessly. The restaurant is conceived as a series of connected zones — an open terrace, intimate indoor seating, and transitional garden-like walkways — all unified by a strong visual language. Arched openings frame views of the outdoors, while the central landscape island anchors the terrace, allowing nature to become an integral part of the dining experience. The spatial composition balances openness with intimacy, creating pockets where guests can gather, pause, and engage with the atmosphere.

The brief was to create a dining environment that reflected the restaurant’s unique culinary identity — a fusion of Italian and Japanese influences. The space needed to feel contemporary yet rooted in cultural references, blending warmth, craftsmanship, and bold visual cues. The design also had to respond to the rooftop setting, offering an inviting outdoor experience while maintaining the intimacy and comfort of an indoor dining environment.

The design language draws from subtle Japanese and European influences, expressed through arched architectural forms, layered screens, and a rich palette of red, black, and natural wood. The outdoor terrace becomes the heart of the restaurant, where landscaped planters, warm lighting, and thoughtfully arranged seating create a relaxed yet vibrant setting under the open sky.

Inside, the atmosphere shifts to a more intimate dining experience. Wooden ceilings, soft globe lighting, and deep red seating establish warmth and depth, while slatted partitions and mural walls introduce texture and narrative. The furniture combines clean lines with comfortable proportions, ensuring the space feels both refined and welcoming.

Transitional elements — such as the sculptural entrance gate, patterned screens, and landscaped walkways — create moments of pause and discovery as guests move through the restaurant. Together, these elements craft an immersive dining environment where architecture complements the culinary experience.
